MONSOON
MONSOON IS A CLIMATOLOGICAL FEATURE CHARACTERIZED BY SEASONAL REVERSAL OF WIND DIRECTION AND SUMMER RAIN.
1) ASIAN - AUSTRALIAN
2)AFRICAN
3)AMERICAN.
HALLEY (FAMOUS NAME OF A COMET ) WAS THE FIRST TO ASSOCIATE THE MONSOON WITH THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAND MASS AND OCEAN.
THE MONSOON ARE EXPERIENCED BETWEEN 20 DEGREE NORTH AND SOUTH OF EQUATOR.
1) DIFFERENCE IN TEMPERATURE OF LAND AND SEA ( INDIAN OCEAN)
2) HIGH TEMPERATURE OVER TIBETAN PLATEAU
3) HIGH PRESSURE EAST OF MADAGASCAR ; 20 DEGREE SOUTH
4) INTER TROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE (ICTZ) OVER GANGES PLAIN IN SUMMER
WHICH IS A BELT OF LOW PRESSURE TROUGH NORMALLY AT 5 DEGREE LATITUDE
5) FLOW OF WESTERLY JET STREAM NORTH OF HIMALAYA AND
AND TROPICAL EASTERLY JET STREAM DURING SUMMER.
6) IN SOME YEARS TEMPERATURE OF SOUTHERN PACIFIC OCEAN IS GREATER THAN THAT OF SOUTH INDIAN OCEAN BUT THIS CONDITION REVERSES IN SOME YEARS REGULARLY. THIS IS CALLED SOUTHERN OSCILLATION.
7) WARM OCEAN CURRENTS TAKES PLACE OF THE COLD PERUVIAN CURRENT AFTER EVERY 2 -5 YEARS. THIS IS CALLED EL - NINO.
8) TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TAHITI AND DARWIN . IF IT IS NEGATIVE IT MEANS LATE MONSOON OR LESSER MONSOON OTHERWISE NORMAL MONSOON.
MONSOON WIND PATTERN
2) MONSOON REACH ISLANDS NORTH CORNER IN THE FIRST WEEK OF MAY.
IT BRINGS RAIN TO 1/4 TH OF EARTH SURFACE.
THERE ARE THREE BRANCH OF MONSOON
